― The Hero
The Hero is the player character of DragonFable, and the main protagonist of the game. The player can customize the Hero's skin color, hair color and hairstyle, as well as their name and Class. The Hero's first appearance is on a cliff at the beginning of Dragonfable's first quest "A Hero is Bored".
Classes[]
There are three Classes available at the start of the game: Warrior, Mage, and Rogue. The Player can unlock more classes as they progress in DragonFable. By equipping certain classes, some of the Hero's facial features may change.
Personality[]
The Hero is known to be youthful, exuberant and a fun-loving person with a fairly sarcastic personality, and employs a lot of quick quips about the quests they are currently in. The Hero knows what to expect of classical fairy tales and often breaks the fourth wall to form their jokes.
Their general personality can be described as "battle first, ask questions later", and they are considered naive about the world of Lore. Their allies include Valencia, Robina the Hood, Artix the Paladin and Captain Rolith of the Pactagonal Knights, two Soulweavers, Tomix and Izaac, the Arachnomancer Riadne, the necromancer Vayle, Zhoom and the ice Soul-Ally Aegis.
Some later quests imply the Hero has a hidden dark side, despite their reputation as the Protector of Falconreach. They formed a bond with the baby Dragon of the Black Dragon Box, a legendary dragon who was prophesied to either destroy the world or save it.
In the Locker, the Hero faces a dark monster called Evil You, created by Kathool 'Achoo, who copies the appearance of the Hero.
In Book 3, the Hero has become less naive and more serious in learning about the world and protecting others. They also show greater frustration in failing to protect others or keep promises.
After being thawed, the Hero shows signs of a somewhat severe case of cryophobia. This is evidenced by their reaction upon being frozen by Aegis, in an attempt to save their life, as the Hero lashes out in fear of being encased in ice again. In a later quest, if the option "call Aegis" is picked when falling from Nieboheim, the Hero yells at Aegis to not freeze them to break the fall.
Main Story[]
Dragon Egg Saga[]
The Hero starts out itching to fight monsters, until a Red Dragon lands in front of them carrying a Priestess with the Black Dragon Box and a Moglin. After saving them from a Gorillaphant, the Hero is instructed by the Priestess to go to Oaklore Keep and deliver a message to Rolith. Rolith then tells the Hero that there are bandits roaming the woods the Priestess had taken as a shortcut, and instructs them to go save her.
Book 3[]
After being frozen solid for years, the Hero finds himself in a changed world, now under the influence of an organization called The Rose, who seeks to rid the world of magic. They proceed to learn more about The Rose from various sources, and, although it is the Rose's founder and leader, Jaania, who froze them, the Hero tries to keep their judgement fair, by hearing both Rose members and those who have suffered in their hands. Ultimately, the Hero decides to fight against them.

Trivia[]
- In a conversation with Sir Ano, he comments that the Hero has a beautiful singing voice.
- Their favorite item is the Mr. and Mrs. Puddingshins puppets seen in "The Hatching" quest.
- Up to now, the Hero has never found romance.
- In the quest Xan's Volcano Fortress when Warlic tells The Hero to "Wake up!", they reply "Just five more minutes, mom." indicating that they have (or had) a family.
- In MechQuest, after the reset, the Player Character becomes The Hero.
- In the forums, the hero was noted to be around their mid 20s (around 23 to 27) estimation in age.
