Pirate is an unlockable sword-and-gun-wielding class, something of a counterpart to the Ninja class. It is available to all players; however, the skills on the right side are Dragon Amulet-locked.
The Pirate Armor can be obtained by talking to Rhubarb at Osprey Cove. He will request papers that prove one is an experienced sailor. Luckily, Pikhan or Meringue have some documents stating one's experience as a sailor and service in the Royal Navy of a random kingdom. It had a cosmetic variant in Dread Pirate, now a customization option.

Overview[]
To acquire skills, players must give Black Pearls to Rhubarb, which are obtained by completing his random quests. Originally, slots would unlock by alternating between the right and left sides, but currently the left side is unlocked first, then the right side. Usage of the latter side is exclusive to Dragon Amulet-upgraded characters.
This class, upon release, had three skills (located on the far left) that were dependent upon the player's chosen base class: Warrior, Mage or Rogue. Skill that it had, but which are currently deprecated, are as follows:[1]
With the massive update to this class on August 19, 2015,[2] most of these skills were removed, although had some of their features adapted into the new set. Pick was adapted into Plunder!, Backstab and Sealegs' names were reused for entirely different skills, 1st Mate Aid and Shout incorporated into Lime-Aid and Avast!, respectively, etc. Art and animations were improved.[3]
The following update, on April 2019, saw two major changes: Pirate were given a 10% bonus damage against enemies with less than 0 Bonus, and the modification of Plunder into Plunder & Sunder. Instead of randomly stealing a potion or applying a debuff, the skill now steals a Mana Potion if the player has less % MP remaining than % HP, or a Health Potion if they have less than or equal % HP than % MP, and the Sundered Armor effect (-50 All res.) is always applied.[4] On September 2021, the armor's appearance was once again updated into its Swab iteration, with the former look (now called "Matey Armor") becoming a customization option and adding others.[5]
On October 28, 2022, the class was updated once again, and given a new mechanic: Plunder. Avoiding or defending against an attack will now give the player an Opening (which affects the foe that missed its direct attack), allowing them to do extra hits on their next attack. This manifests as firing off a couple quick shots (2 hits of 100% damage) before one's next skill. Players also gets an Opening at the start of battle. Successfully taking advantage of any Opening will earn Plunder, which increases the base damage of damaging skills.[6] One can only hold up to 5 pieces of Plunder, which give +10% each (max: 50% dmg.) and are marked as skull and crossbones on the flag widget.
Additionally, Pirates' boost against foes with negative Bonus was removed, and Plunder & Sunder! became Cursed Treasure. Its Potion stealing mechanic remains intact, but it now adds 1 to one's Plunder count (2 with an Opening), and is effect is now Cursed Treasure. It doubles the effect of Plunder while active (signified on the widget by red jewels placed on the skull's sockets), but if it runs out, all of one's Plunder stacks will be lost.[6][7]
