History[]
Verlyrus first appears in a box inside an abandoned house in Amityvale when the hero first visits after thawing out. After attempting to communicate with the hero via meowing, the hero believes they are to save Timmy from a well.
The hero returns to report they did not find Timmy. After meaowing back to the hero, they are convinced Verlyrus wants them to bring him 10 Vermin Tails.
On Heroes Heart Day 2015, Bubbles seeks refuge in an abandoned house in Amityvale. Inside the house Verlyrus appears in a box. The two have speak with each other and Bubbles is invited to stay the night in the house. Bubbles and Verlyrus later send the hero on a task to gather various cat related wish list items. Upon returning the hero finds Bubbles and Verlyrus gossiping about the vermin tails. To thank Verlyrus for how much of a gentleman he has been, Bubbles gives him a kiss, at which point Bubbles is magically transformed back into a human. Verlyrus is visibly upset that his new cat friend was no longer a cat.
After failing to return with the vermin tails the hero feels bad an promises Verlyrus to bring him some fish. When the hero returns Verlyrus gives them the bag of fish and sends them to a dinner party with his friends.
Later Verlyrus will ask the hero to help him by cleaning out his box. The hero agrees, but upon entering the box they find it to be far different then expected.
During Mogloween 2016 Verlyrus joined the hero and Bubbles when investigating why Croft had not appeared. He joins the hero and Bubbles when the Plaguenog is being brewed and the hero travels to Apsaydaaun and is transported there as well. He travels with the hero in search of the Cauldron Sisters. After finding Trouble he continues to travel Apsaydaaun with the hero, helping them fight off the monsters that lurked there. While in Apsaydaaun, Verlyrus meets the sisters parents and becomes embarrassed after it is revealed to them the kiss Bubbles gave him is what broke the spell keeping her a cat, and they believe him to be her true love.
During the events of Mogloween 2018 Verlyrus is kidnaped by one of the Baleful Brothers so they could use him to merge Apsaydaaun and Lore. He was saved by the cauldron sisters and the hero.
He needs his refill on catnip at some point, sending the hero in to pick it up for him as not to be embarrassed.
On Mogloween 2019 Verlyrus convinces Akaz to help turn him into a human so he can be with Bubble. He is instead mutated into a large, muscled monster. In his rage he found himself fighting the hero, who is trying to distract him long enough so that the cauldron sisters can make an antidote. The sisters are successful and Verlyrus is returned to normal.
Eventually it is discovered that the house he has been staying in does not actually belong to him. it is later found that the owner is missing and the mayor allows Verlyrus to remain as long as the owner is not there.
For reasons currently unknown Verlyrus tasked the hero with retrieving a specific fish bowl from the mayors house. He claims the fate of Amityvale relies on retrieving the fish bowl.
Appearance[]
Verlyrus appears as a smoky-grey cat with light grey patches and dark, leopard-like spots. He has yellow eyes and a tuff of fur on his head.
Personality[]
Verlyrus is more mysterious than he first appears. He tends to be mischievous, sending the hero on several mostly pointless quests. He has shown affection in the past as well as exceptional intelligence.
